Van City Soul Quartet Release debut Album

Vancouver's very own Van City Soul Quartet have released their debut album of original music via their web site at vancitysoulquartet.com

The album "Soul in the City" comprises of 13 tracks all written by band leader Ian Gregson over the summer and fall of 2014. The album features one track with singer Josephine Watson "So Much Love".

Musical styles vary from soul, funk, blues and jazz. Band leader Ian's guitar work features heavily as well as his Tom Waits sounding vocal style. Subject matter varies from loves lost to political statements and an ode to a Japanese soft porn star in Reon Kadena. The track "Keep the Faith" is dedicated to the ongoing protest against Kinder Morgan and the Burnaby Mountain Protectors.

The band is currently in rehearsal in order to start playing the songs live in early 2015. 2014 wrapped with the new album and a short performance at the River Rock Casino Theatre with Chinese concert violinist Sophia Huan Li.

The album is for sale via the band's web site for $9.99USD

Van City Soul Quartet were formed in September 2013 in order to play at the recently demised Cory Weeds Cellar Jazz Club in Kitsilano. The band is available for shows throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
