Van City Soul Quartet Release 2nd single "The Face"

About "The Face"

The Face is a new track by Van City Soul Quartet and is to be released October 1st, 2014.

Originally written in 2011 for Ian's original project  "Ai Vertigo" the Face tells the story of leaving your hometown in search of greener pastures and yet always remaining linked to the place you came from.

The lyrics written by Ian, refer to several characters "Charlie" and "Sister Jane" who leave their hometown in search of a better life. The lyrics refer to "a Wallgate train" and "say hello to Victoria" - Wallgate is a train station in Wigan and Victoria is the Manchester terminus of the train from Wallgate to Manchester.

The Face is actually a statue in Wigan also called "The Face" and was created by sculptor Rick Kirby   The statue is an artistic impression of generalised faces of the people in the town of Wigan. The statue has had a mixed response from the locals as some see it to be a little on the "grim" side.

The Face

Charlie was a little guy with hopes n dreams bigger than him,
Once he read the news that day, he found the courage within
Charlie took the Wallgate train, he took it outta town
Said hello to Victoria , and with Victoria he laid it all down,

Everybody’s looking for something good
Everybody wants it if they could
You can have it if you really want
Everybody’s looking for something good
Everybody wants it if they could
You can have it if you really want

Sister J’s all grown up now, What she needs is TLC
Hanging out with the wrong crowd, she's longing to be free
In walks her star crossed lover who moves her unexpectedly
Takes her to a new place and lifts her devilishly,

The face is the reflection of the people in this town
The face tells the story of better days gone down

Chorus: (Repeat 2ce)
Everybody’s looking for something good
Everybody wants it if the could
You can have it if you really want
Everybody’s looking for something good
Everybody wants it if they could
You can have it if you really want
